Emily McFarling is an attorney in Las Vegas, Nevada, specializing in family law. Her practice is primarily focused on handling family law appeals, parental kidnapping and high conflict child custody cases, particularly ones involving mental health issues.  A significant amount of the law regarding child custody in Nevada comes from appeal cases Emily argued. Emily regularly represents victims of domestic violence and parents trying to co-parent with someone who is personality disordered. Emily has won numerous awards and is highly recognized as an attorney in family law. In 2010, she became a certified Family Law Specialist, the top family law credential in Nevada. Emily is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and president of the Nevada Chapter. She is also a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and an AV Preeminent Rated Attorney by Martindale Hubbell. She has been named as a Mountain States Super Lawyer. She works with the United States Department of State as an attorney who assists in retrieving children who have been kidnapped to Nevada from a foreign country. Emily is a certified mediator and obtains appointments from the court as a certified Parenting Coordinator.

While per practice is focused in southern Nevada, Emily is also licensed to practice in the 9th Circuity Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court, United States District Court – District of Nevada, as well as all state courts in Arizona and California.

Emily has a Juris Doctor Degree from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston Massachusetts. She earned a Bachelors of Arts with Honors in Sociology and Psychology from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1998. She is also certified in International Mediation and Negotiation from Humbolt University in Berlin, Germany. She has studied law in Spetses and Rhodes, Greece and Psychology at Thames Valley University in Longon. Emily began her time spent living abroad as a Rotary International Scholarship student at Terezvarosi Kettannyelvu Altalanos Iskola in Budapest, Hungary.

Emily spends her free time singing and doing yoga. She also enjoys traveling. Emily has been to over 20 countries and lived in London, Berlin, Rhodes, and Budapest. She likes to divide her time between homes in Las Vegas, Tulum, Tuscany, and Budapest.

Emily is the mother of two boys, one with ADHD and the other with cerebral palsy and on the autism spectrum, which she sees as superpowers, not disabilities. Emily created McLitho to write and publish books that can assist children going through difficult situations such as family conflicts, mental health, and disabilities. She is also mom to four dogs – two Boston Terrier puppies and an older chihuahua and Boston Terrier.
